The Witness Tree by Denise Weimer is an engaging account of a period in U. S. history that is often overlooked. With a wealth of historical detail, the story gives us a glimpse of what is was like to live in a world of converging cultures. Her honest treatment of marriage, religious expectations, and personal disappointment transcends timelines. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves history and romance.
